Cafe Replika is a spacious, industrial-style coffee shop located in the Plateau. With plenty of seats and a large selection of substantial meals on the menu, Replika is great if you forgot to or don’t have time for a sit down lunch at a restaurant. You can enjoy your meal with either a great Intelligentsia coffee, Turkish coffee (traditional or mastic), tea, or even a warm hot chocolate (Callebaut chocolate). My cappuccino was amazing: not too diluted and the taste had the right amount of complexity that I like. If you try the Turkish coffee, keep in mind that it’s different from typical North American coffee and give yourself time to get accustomed to the taste. The first time I tried it, I felt like it tasted thick, woodsy and grassy. Haven’t tried a second time but I plan to soon (I never liked wine nor beer the first time either)!
If you’re an early bird that prefers small snacks and a good cup of coffee, you can try to come early to catch some of their homemade baked goods fresh from the oven. I really like their moist, chewy chocolate chip cookie because of the small hint of salt that balances out the sweetness.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere, service, clientele, food and coffee. The staff is always very courteous (ex. they bring your order to your table) and the music is light and upbeat. Without a doubt, I definitely see myself revisiting Replika often.
UPDATE/June 30th 2015: If you like avocados, you must try their avocado simit (Turkish bagel)! It comes with olive spread and just tastes amazing!
