Cafe Noble is a micro coffee shop on Laurier and though only a few months old, they have garnered quite a following and have seamlessly integrated in the neighbourhood. With roughly 4 indoor seats and 8 outdoor seats (which are heated during winter), Noble certainly fits the description of “hole in the wall”. Their coffee roast choice is currently between Kittel and Phil and Sebastian and the regions change according to coffee seasons. Food wise, they serve baked goods from Arhoma like croissants, danoises and chocolatines. Though currently only serving espressos and filters, they hope to launch their brew bar soon and also eventually incorporate de Mello Palheta coffee beans in their rotation. I’m pretty excited for that because as I mentioned in my Neo Cafe post, I haven’t gotten to try the Toronto based roaster but I have high hopes that they’re an up and coming player in Canadian coffee roaster scene.
The place is small so don’t expect to do any studying or work -though they do have wifi if you need to quickly check something. No doubt that Noble shines most during summer with the outdoor seating and from what I hear, les Givres ice cream. Coffee wise, I found it to be pretty solid but nothing spectacular. One thing about blogging about a new coffee shop is that yes, you get to share a new discovery to your readers but sometimes the shop themselves have not been able to get their feet wet yet and I believe this is the case for Noble. For a newly opened shop, a solid cup of coffee means that the coffee can only improve from there. I have seen this countless times so I can’t wait for Noble Cafe to really distinguish itself in this bustling coffee scene. The potential is there: cozy simple decor, perfect location (Laurier metro station was missing a good coffee shop), very friendly staff and owners, and just an overall humble feel despite their namesake.
